Bio

Mandy hails from Ridgeville, Manitoba...about 5 miles south of the small town and 2 miles north of the Canada US border. Parents had a mixed farm for many years and always a huge garden, who were her primary teachers. She used to sell Dominion Vegetable seeds in her area, as a young girl for over 8 years, walking from door to door. Sometimes 14 miles a day after school. That’s when the veggie bug really started! Today, Mandy resides outside Tyndall, MB on a small mixed farm with her hubby. Started a seed business in 1989, selling thousands of heritage vegetable plants and later branched into seed sales. She has managed to acquire and grow over 1600 varieties of which she now maintains about 30% in order to slow down (a little). She no longer offers plants but seed sales keeps her quite busy. Nothing is more exciting that seeing every color in God’s rainbow, growing in one’s garden...from black carrots to tri-colored striped tomatoes, to multicolored blue corn, to white cucumbers to pink and cream beans that can grow to 12” long! Mandy is well known in the seed saving circles and speaks all over the province. Check out her website:  http://mandysgreenhouse.com
